Answer --- Jesus Cannot be just a Great Man, a Great Prophet, or a Great Religious Leader. Jesus claimed to be Jehovah God Incarnate. If He is not the Lord, then He is not only a Lunatic and a Liar, but also a Fake, a Fraud, a Dangerously Unbalanced Person with a Bloated Ego, and a Delusionist Who thought that He was someone that He wasn't.That raises the question, "How Can We Know For Sure That Jesus Is God?" Now, there are thousands and thousands of pieces of scientific and historical evidences to prove that Jesus is who He said He is (see many articles under "Creation / Evolution"). However, for this short answer, we must keep it simple. The Bible says that if a prophet prophecies many things and they All Come To Past But One, then He Is A False Prophet! Prophecy is one of the best evidences (other than true science and history itself) that Jesus is God. Anyone can make prediction --- that is easy. Having them come-to-pass is another story. The more statements you make about the future and the greater the details, the greater the chances are that your predictions will fail. For example, think how difficult it would be for anyone to: 1. Predict, 700 years in advance, the exact city in which the birth of a future President of the United States would take place. This specified city would be one other than the city in which his parents live? Also predict what ancestry he would be from and tell what his parents would name him. I think that you would agree that such a prediction would be impossible. However, we are only getting started. 2. Also predict that many dignitaries would come and bring gifts to this young child and tell what the gifts would be. Also include in your prediction what will give them directions as to where to find the new born child. 3. Also predict that the then reigning President, in order to kill this child, would order the murder of all male children under the age of two. Name the country to which the parents of this future President would have to flee in order to save his life. Now you are really getting out on a limb to include such details in your predicitons. 4. Also predict that another person would come before this future President and prepare the way for him to establish his Presidency. 5. Predict 483 Years In Advance the exact day that this future President would announce his Presidency and that during that same week he would be put to death --- without becoming President. You talk about getting specific, how much more specific can you get than this. Remember, if even just one prophecy fails to come to pass exactly as prophesied, he is a false prophet. 6. Also predict that this future President would be arrested and put to death after being betrayed by a friend and sold-out for a specific amount of money, 30 pieces of silver. Predict that this friend would try to return the money and end up by throwing it at the feet of the authorities. Predict that all the workers in this further President's administration would also desert him although he had done nothing wrong. 7. Also predict and describe, 1,000 Years In Advance, a precise kind of death (including the piercing of his hands and his fee), that was not currently known, but which would be invented and become the type of death that this future President would experience. Would anyone dare say that this prophecy was just a coincident? 8. Include in your prediction that he would not die alone but in the company of two criminals, one on his right side and the other on his left. He must be in the middle. Predict also that this future President's executioner would carry out their regular practice of breaking the legs of the two victims on either side of him, but will not break his legs. Again, how specific can you get and still be right? 9. Predict also that, during his "crucifixion" his executioners would gamble for his clothes and that he would forgive, pray for, and make intercession for his executioners, while they were putting him to death. Now that would be completely contrary to human nature. 10. Also predict that this future President would be buried in a borrowed tomb (which would be sealed with the Government Seal, and carried the death penalty if you broke it). Even though this tomb would be guarded by military soldiers, after three days and three nights, he would rise from the dead and appear alive and in perfect health to scores of reliable but highly skeptical witnesses. Instead of the above Ten Prophecies, how difficult would it be for you to make a total of 356 Predictions, all of which would Come To Pass Exactly As Predicted without a single one failing? All of them dealing with the same person and most of them being verified by a jewish historian who was not even a Christian. This is exactly what happened concerning Jesus Christ. It takes More Faith Not To Believe in Jesus than it does to believe in Him. In order not to believe in Jesus Christ, you have to Take Your Brain Out of Gear And Become Intellectually Deprived.
